I can't shut up about it!!!!

I just know I'm going to annoy some people today.  I can feel it.  I know in my mind right now, there are at least 2000 different ways of describing the past week...but they all involve the words, "huge, tremendous, and juggernaut."

All kidding aside, as Judson mentioned previously, the number of people at NAB created such an exciting place to be for a week.  This wasn't your ordinary trade show!!!  I had so much fun, learned a ton, and if you were checking our blogs a lot to see what we were up to I thank you!!!!

The freebies will be nice, the pictures of what we saw will always be fun to look at, but the best thing about this past week was working with some of my favorite people/friends and getting another small taste of my future in this business.

Peace,

Scott

I'm Home...or am I?!?

Wow, NAB 2006 has come to an end for the "A" Team. I am safely at home, but all though I am sitting in a nice quiet room I can still hear the roar (and I do mean roar) of NAB in my head!

What a fantastic experience - WOW, WOW, WOW is simply all I can say. It is going to take me a few days to recover and get back on Akron (real-world) time - but I can say that I am taking so many increadible experiences away from this past week.

I sincerely hope that our presence helped Avid and that I'll be able to pass on my experience to my fellow students and ZTV and WZIP people.

I hope to keep in touch with all of the other student reps. - got to love that facebook!

Thanks again goes out to Avid for having all of us - may they continue to be the number one most inovative, respected, and all encompasing company of their kind!

Las day at NAB!!!

Hey, this is our last day here in Las Vegas and at NAB.  All of the hype and excitement didn't even come close to actually experiencing this juggernaut of a conference.  I have a new found respect for the industry that I love and can't wait to work in as well as hope to continue to experience events such as this one.  Our interview with Ed Ornelas will be arriving soon, trust me...it's pretty sweet.  Avid has been so great to us during our stay.  I really would like to thank Alice and Steve for making this trip really the best it could be for a student like myself who wants nothing more out of life than to be happy being creative.  Keep checking this blog as much as you can!!!

Well, for all of us from The University of Akron, better known during this trip as the A-TEAM...this has been a wonderfu trip, a tremendous experience, and really one of the best times of our lives.  Thanks for checking in with us!!!!

Peace,

Scott :)

PICS!

COME ON, EVERYBODY!!!

We're almost done!  I can't believe our entire trip went so quickly!  The Akron Entourage is leaving Vegas at 3, so we're getting out of NAB very, very soon... I'm sad!

How lucky we were this week!  After learning Media Composer yesterday (it's fabulous, by the way... I want one!  Daddy if you're reading this it's a great graduation present!), we went on to the BEA and Avid Education reception.  As a gift, Avid was giving out lanyards with Avid Xpress Pro around the neck... it was all very Hawaii.

Unfortunately, I've been so much like "jello" after getting out of NAB, I didn't really get to explore Vegas... it's not that bad, because this chance only comes once, and well... the Venetian and Pure nightclub will probably still be here next time around.

All of the other students were so sweet.  As a student in a more broadcast-focused school, it was great to find out what the other "film schools" were like.  However, I love broadcast, and after our amazing breakfast meeting this morning, I love it even more!  Alice Palmer arranged for the Akron team to have breakfast at the Hard Rock with the VP of Avid Broadcasting.  He was extremely inspirational, because he worked in the industry we're all hoping to work in!

We also get to go home knowing there's an Avid care package on the way!  We get our own copy of Avid Xpress Pro, Sonic Fire Pro, and a G-Tech 80gb hard drive!  AH!

We're out of here!  Check for pics!

Pictures from "THE FLOOR"

So, this has been the best trip ever!!!!!!!  Every minute of everyday...guess what I get to gell people from all over the world..."Hey, I'm Scott Sebert.  I'm an Avid student representative from The University of Akron."  It's so out of control...I really appreciate anyone who had a hand in getting the A-Team out here.

Here are some pics from vegas and from the floor.  In case you were wondering...yes, that is Apple's booth directly accross from Avid's.  Things are a little competative at the front of the South Hall....but let's just say....if a bigger computer (17" Mac Book) is all you released at the largest broadcasting conference of the year...things really aren't that competative.  Picture_004 Picture_010 Picture_021 Picture_023 Picture_016

Holy tired batman....but its all good!

I don't think I've ever been so exhausted in my life!!! But I love it! This has been such a great experience. Its such an honor to be selected by Avid to represent the University of Akron at NAB. Gina pretty much sumed up the NAB experience so far. Quick little factoid for ya...

At the Academy Awards this year, 400 movies were nominate, 388 used Avid to edit the movies.....Industry standard? I think so!!!

Just let that sink in and I'll blog it tomorrow!

BUSY BUSY BUSY!!

This week is amazing!  This is such a great group of students and SUCH an opportunity!  Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, but here's what we've been up to:

On Monday, we interviewed Ed Ornelas, the editor of Grey's Anatomy.  When we researched him before the interview, I assumed he was older because of everything he'd done (he's practically done work for every major network!)  Well, I was definietly wrong.  Not only was he young and hip, but incredibly down to earth... we learned so much from him!  We'll be posting the link to our video podcast ASAP so you can see for yourself!

Yesterday we worked all day, but took a little break to watch Jabez Olssen, the editor of King Kong, speak at the Avid booth.  (And after much exploration, Avid has the most stylish, cutting edge booth!)

I'm writing this at Avid University, where Avid is offering free workshops for the new Media Composer... lucky us, because we get to learn how to use it tonight!  Apparently there is a whole world beyond Xpress Pro.

This morning the Akron Entourage had free time, so we explored the rest of NAB.  We stopped by RTNDA at the Hilton, too!  (There is way too much to check out at this convention... it would literally take WEEKS to see it all!)

I must be going... we're busy!  This is the greatest opportunity!  We've met so many great people, learned so much about the industry, and are definitely motivated to keep going!  We have a student party tonight... more updates later!  Plus, pictures should be posted soon!

Day 2....

Blog'n it up. Well its the end of day two here at NAB, and I still haven't seen it all, probably won't! But I've learned a lot. Met some people, and have some great stories to tell (Ask me about Scott's biff when we get home). But it's been an awesome experience and opportunity to work for such an amazing company. Tonight, hopefully I'll get some sleep, and tomorrow night we actually get to attend an event and NOT HAVE TO WORK IT! So until then....keep checkin!!
